When Liz visited last week, she took some great pictures. I thought these would be fun to share!

first day of school!

Anna had her first day at daycare today. She did much better than I did. Her teachers are so nice and made us both feel welcome. When we got there, I fed her a bottle and then put her down in her crib for a nap. All the other kids were playing or eating, and their interaction with the teachers was positive. Anna has her own crib, which is the first one when you enter the room. She has her own cubby for her diaper bag, a cubby for her food (when she starts eating solids), and colored labels for her bottles and pacifier (her color is red). I don't have to bring blankets/diapers, bibs, etc because all the linens are provided by the center. We are going to go every day this week for longer stretches every day so we can get used to the center before I start work next week. I did get a little teary leaving her today becuase I am going to really miss this time we've had at home together.

We went to the aquarium on Wednesday and saw lots of cool fish. (Anna slept the whole time.) Olivia and Chase had lots of fun!

We went on a walk with all the kids, and a cat joined our party. It was so funny how this cat follwed us for several blocks. We finally called the number on the cat's collar to notify the owner because the cat had gotten so far away from where we first met it. Chase was so sad when we finally had to say goodbye.

Aunt Liz

Liz and Chad came to visit this weekend while Chad interviewed for a pediatric ortho fellowship at Emory. Liz said that Anna checked out OK, so that was a relief!

off to Tampa

Anna and I are in Tampa this week visiting the Cortners. Erica was my college roommate and now has 2 small kids of her own. Her kids are fascinated with Anna and have been so good with her. We are havig lots of fun, and Erica is reminding me of all the things I need to do for posterity while Anna is still little. We had an impromptu photo shoot yesterday, and here are some of the pictures. Anna was so sweet and still for about 150 shots.

baby get together

Today we met up with two other families to show off our babies. All of the men went to business school together. Jack, in his Donald Duck costume, is 14 months, and Emma Jean is 30 minutes younger than Anna. In fact, Emma Jean was delivered in the OR right next to ours at Northside, so we unexpectedly saw our friends at the hospital. We had a great time catching up, and I think the girls look so cute in their college gear. It's game day!

brand new baby

Anna is seriously a brand new baby. Since starting reflux treatment, she is so happy, not crying, able to entertain herself and not be held all day. I feel bad that she must have been miserable for so long, but at least we have finally gotten to the bottom of her crying. Get this, she slept for NINE HOURS last night. Unbelievable. (of course it would happen on a night that Rob had overnight duty!) Here we are last night before bedtime. She looks like a baby buddha, and I like the picture of her baby butt crack.

so sweet

Anna slept all afternoon after her shots and reflux medication. I know it takes a couple of days for the medicines to kick in, but she woke up as the happiest baby ever. And the only crying she did was her "fake crying" as I call it. I'm going to start putting her to bed earlier per our pediatrician's advice to see if that helps her not get overstimulated, cry less, and sleep better. Wish us luck!

A-OK

We went for Anna's 2-month check up today. She weighs 10 lb, 14oz, and is still tracking in the 50th percentile for height (22.75 in), weight, and head circumference. She got 5 vaccines today, 4 of which were shots. Anna was mad but only cried a little bit. Our prediatrician thinks Anna's fussiness may be due to acid reflux, so she started Anna on medicine for that as well as a daily vitamin. Let me tell you, those 2 things are disgusting. I tasted them before I gave them to Anna. When I gave them to her, she looked at me with a look I have never seen before, something between surprise and horror. I guess as long as she gets better, she's going to have to put up with it. So overall, Anna is developing right on track. Here she is with her new stoller toys (Thanks, Brandy!)

better days

Today was a much better day. I think Anna likes to travel as she does better on days that we take excursions out of the house. We visited the Baileys and their son Trey, and then we had lunch with my cousin Meg. It was fun to see everyone, and Anna was a happy camper . . . maybe becuase she was excited about her new hand-me-downs! Now, she is chillin' in her Hanna Anderson while we watch Project Runway.

2-month birthday

Yesterday was Anna's 2-month birthday. She celebrated by waking up just after midnight, staying up all night, then screaming from 9am to 10pm . . . with the exception of the video clip above. I figured it would be the only thing worth showing for the day. Needless to say, she was exhausted by the end of the day (as was I), and fell asleep pretty easily.

Anna's just happy as a clam in the tub. She could sit in there for hours. We say she has a jacuzzi tub because there is a mini waterfall that circulates the water.

Hanging out with Rob

I caught the top picture of Rob and Anna dancing today. Looks like Rob is doing most of the work. The bottom picture is before bathtime, Anna's favorite time of day. She's starting to get a little pudgy, and her hair is filling in on the top. What a cutie!

last day, just in time

Our trip went by too fast! We had a lot of fun, and it was nice for me to be able to relax. Now were are back in Atlanta waiting for Rob to get home tonight. I was amazed this morning to see that our dock and yard (in Pensacola) are under water due to the huge tide being pulled in from Ike. We had no rain, jsut lots of wind, but I hope everyone in Texas stays safe!

Ashleigh's house

On Tuesday, we went to Ft Walton Beach to visit my girlfriend, Ashleigh, and her daughter, Payton. We had a nice girls' afternoon, although I did comment on how differnt our lives are compared to the fun we used to have in college!

Pensacola fun

So Anna survived her first big plane trip to Pensacola. The night we arrived, we had dinner with Patrick, Catherine, and my aunts, Susie and Laura. Patrick even managed to hold Anna despite his phobia of babies. It's hard to appreciate how much he is sweating and shaking in this picture. :)

Anna's big adventure

We flew home to Pensacola today. Mama Kae drove from NC and met us in Atlanta, then we flew to Florida. Anna fell asleep in the car an didn't wake up until we are making the descent into Pensacola, so I would sayshe traveled well on her first flight. We will be visiting friends and family this week and will be coming home on Thursday. Look for pictures then!

We had a good day, and Anna is worn out. Rob will be home from Philadelphia tonight!
