Anna's fifth birthday party

Anna shared her birthday with her best friend, Scarlett. As the are into all things of Jake and the Neverland Pirates, we had a pirate splash party. It will be one of the last times her pre-school class gets together. Anna has been with these kids since she was 11 weeks old, and she is already missing them.

Her sadness over leaving her pre-school and her anxiety over starting at a new school is showing up as some anxious behavior issues. She is really nervous about starting school ("too many people in my class") and about Rodin the bus "(I'm going to fall out of my seat and get hurt").

In the end, she/we will be fine. There are a lot of changes going on in her life, but I know she will love kindergarten.

Ian's 1 yo stats

27 lbs 13 oz, 98%
32 in, 96%
19.5 cm, 99%

He went in for his 1 yo check up at 13 months.  He was sick with coxsacki (hand-foot-mouth syndome) and an ear infection, so he had not been eating.  I suspect his weight is closer to 29 lbs, or at least that's what we get on our home scale.

Anna's birthdays

Despite her genes, she is a spectacularly gorgeous girl.  We love her so much it takes our breath away.

Anna is five!

Five. years. old.
Mama Kae surprised Anna with early birthday gifts.  She loves her Twirly Girl dress (and wore it for two days straight).  Who knew that Anna's left brain is keeping up with her right?  She completed a 350  piece Lego set with minimal help.  Seriously, I did about 2% of the work.  She was amazing.  She now has a miniature Lego vet's office.  Today, she woke up to excited parents and opened gifts.  Her birthday party is on Saturday.  What is she most excited about?  Going to Kindergarten.  "I just can't waaaaaiiit til Kindergarten."  Aunt Cat, magically knew this and bought her school supplies which Anna has brought to church and summer camp.  She comes by her nerdiness honestly.

Now that he is one . . .

Ian is friendly, never shy.  He is walking so into all kinds of new trouble.  He pummels his sister all day long, but we are working on that.  He will start part-time day care in a couple of weeks.  This boy needs to get out of the house.  :)

Pensacola beach vacation

We spent a week in Pensacola in June.  What an amazing vacation!  Normally, we stay with my parents when we visit Pensacola, but this time, my parents rented a gorgeous condo on the beach for our whole family, including Pat and Cat and P3.  The beach was perfect, and we all enjoyed being so close to the water.  Anna has become quite a swimmer and spent a lot of time in the pool.  We celebrated my parents' 40th anniversary, Ian's first birthday, and P3 (just because he is so cute).

Ian's first birthday

Yes, this is a month overdue, but we are busy!  We celebrated Ian's first birthday on our Pensacola beach vacation last month.  We were surrounded by family, low key.  Ian dove right in to his cupcake, he's never been shy about eating.  Singing the "happy birthday" unnerved him a bit.  but the chocolate icing made up for that.  Yay for our wild, snuggly, curious, tank of a child.  We love you, Ian!
