Anna is getting closer to crawling. She spends a lot of time scooting around on her belly, scooting in circles mostly. I've realized that I will need to bolt the shelving to the wall, clean off all the low shelves, hide the knives, etc. At least we got rid of our death-trap coffee table and bought a new one this weekend!

shake it
After all the time and money spent in Toy's-R-Us, I have finally found Anna's favorite toy. She played with this noise-maker for about an hour yesterday. Wow, that was fun. Here is just a tiny sample of it.
Adventures in eating

We have moved on to more advanced foods these days. Yogurt has gone over well. Anna wasn't sure what to think about beginner toddler food, yogurt bites and arrowroot cookies, but she really has fun playing with them. I made homemade chicken baby food to try her on meat, but she acted like I was trying to kill her with it. We'll have to try that one again later. Anna is known at daycare as "the baby who likes to eat." I guess we all have our talents.

We went home to Pensacola this weekend. My girlfriend, Asheligh, and her daughter came over to play on Saturday, and we spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with the fam and our family friends. Anna traveled really well, even though I booked our flights close to her bedtime. She was talking up a storm and even scooted around on the hardwood floors on her belly. She's going to be crawling before we know it!

8 months today

Anna is 8 months old today. She is big and happy and beautiful! She is rolling over from front to back and back to front on her own now. Crawling . . . not any time soon. No teeth yet either. She is a decent sleeper when I keep her in her routine. She is just starting to get a little separation anxiety, but recovers quickly and does just fine at daycare. We got a note in her mailbox at school saying that we need to start planning for her transition to the 1-year old class! Agh! Not yet! Anna was 17 lbs, 4 oz at a sick visit 3 weeks ago, so I bet by her 9 month check up she'll be about 19lbs. We are going home to Pensacola this weekend, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone!Tuesday, March 10, 2009

skiing
Rob and I went on vacation this week: skiing in Steamboat, CO. While it snowed on the east coast, it was beautiful 60+ degrees in Colorado. We took three days of lessons and did pretty well until Rob got strep throat and had to stay in bed for the end of the trip. It was the first time I spent a night away from Anna. My parents had her for the week in Cashiers. I did better than I expected and enjoyed catching up on my sleep! It was a nice week overall, but we are glad to be home with our little girl!
