Our daughter . . .

Well, the third try is the charm, I guess. I went for an ultrasound today and tried all the tricks that I knew to get the baby to cooperate. I ate a big meal including a coke and snickers bar (per my cousin Meg's recommendation). I made sure my bladder was full (per my OB's advice). I laid on my side (per the ultrasound tech's advice). But still, nothing! That little stinker was sitting Indian style, and we couldn't see a thing! The tech told me I should reschedule, but I told her that I couldn't leave without knowing. She let me wait until she scanned all the other patients, and I drank 3 glasses of ice cold water (per Amie Kawasaki's advice). When I came back in, our little girl was perfect. I couldn't believe it. I must have asked the tech 4 times if she was sure that the baby is a girl, and finally she said, "Honey, I've done this every day for the past five years. Yes, it's a girl." So now we know. :)

do-over

After last Friday's shy baby ultrasound, I called up on of my classmates from med school who is an OB/GYN resident here. She kindly agreed to rescan me on the Grady labor and delivery ward. Any of you who know Grady, know what kind of patients I was hanging out with. Unfortunately, the baby was still a bit uncooperative. So I go back again on Monday for a third try with a perinatologist! I'm going to try my cousin's trick of eating a Snicker's bar and drinking a Dr. Pepper prior to the scan so the baby is wired and posing for good shots. Wish us luck!

It's a . . . shy baby

Rob and I went for our 20 week anatomy screen. Baby looked great, all the parts are in the right place, weighs 12 oz "like a can of coke" we were told. But that little stinker! When we went to find out the sex, the baby sat right down on my cervix behind my pelvic bone, crossed it's legs, dangled its feet over its bottom and draped the umbilical cord accross its lap. After an hour of scanning, no verdict on baby pepper's true identity. We go back in a couple of weeks to try again. It's a really cute baby, though! And healthy, which is is all we really needed to know.

Thought you might enjoy these. Yesterday, I had 2 people ask me when I'm due, so guess I've started to show. We are so excited to find out the sex next Friday!

Anyone want a lovely condo?

No new posts because we have been busy getting our place ready to sell. I recently have signed with a private practice here in Atlanta that is further north in the metro area. Unfortunately, the commute from our current home would be really far, so we have decided to try to move. We have mixed feelings about leaving Decatur and our first home, but we knew this time would come. We are looking forward to having more space for the baby, and of course a yard for Finlay. Found this old picture of us on move-in day and a new one of Finlay checking out the birds.

We find out the sex of the baby on 3.14.08 (two weeks from Friday!) Check back on the 7th for a bump update!
