nap time

we're sleepy

Anna is a great eater. She is eating about every 2.5-3 hours. Sleeping well during the day, not so well at night, but getting better. We're working on making her the "happiest baby on the block." (I recommend the video, not the book.)

bath time

After a lot of screaming, our slippery, sudsy Anna becomes this sweet bundle of baby.

Here are some clips from life at home with Anna.

Thank goodness for mamas

My mom has been here for 9 days, attending a baby shower/ unpacking my apartment/ readying for baby/ driving me to the hospital in the middle of the night/ staying up all night to help with Anna/ etc, etc, etc. She was wonderful, and sadly she had to leave today. We love you.

First doctor's visit

We went to Anna's pediatrician today. She has not gained (or lost) weight since we left the hospital. Her jaundice is improving. Overall she is doing well and we really like our new doc. She's a Gator!

welcome home!

We made it home late yesterday. Came home to Don Jehle comfort food. Anna wore the dress that MaMa and Aunt Lynn gave me to wear when I came home 30 years ago. Everyone is tired but doing well. Finlay is curious and really protective of Anna. He gets really upset when she cries and tries to give her kisses to make her stop. Anna is a joy and is blessed to enter this world so well loved.

Anna opens her eyes

We've had some "complaints" that Anna's eyes are closed in all her pictures so here you have it: blue eyes.

Anna day 2

Here is our sweet little girl. She is breathing and nursing much better. She gets cuter by the second, and all the other babies are jealous of her. She is super snuggly and loves to sleep on my chest like this.

Proud Grandparents!

We were so blessed to have Kae and Don here from square one. They have made this whole process so special. Kae was such a great coach and Don cooked up some yummy comfort food to sustain the new parents.

Cleaning Up Anna

Its a good thing Anna won't remember this... she seems pretty traumatized.

Sweet Momma!

Proud Poppa!

When Two Became Three!

Just like mom and dad, we found out that baby Anna marches to beat of her own drum. She some how knew that the nursery was ready in the new house and decided that she couldn't wait the last 3 1/2 weeks to see her new room. Kara's water broke in the wee hours of the morning. Thank goodness Momma Kae (Kara's mom) was still visiting because Daddy Rob was working in New York, but was able to catch the 6 AM flight home so he didn't miss a thing. Poor Baby Anna descended "sunny side up" and despite two hours of good pushing got herself stuck and required an emergency C-section. Both mom and baby are recovering well.

Wet Finlay

Here is baby #1 and Rob after a bath. Finlay has been terrific since I have been home all day this week. We have been going to the park every day and he was getting stinkier by the second so he got his last bath at our condo.

1 month to go . . .

Well, just about 4 weeks to go. Pretty chaotic around here. Finished residency on Monday, Rob's back in town for the holiday weekend. We managed to rent our condo about 2 weeks ago, so we are moving closer to work on 7.11.08. My parents were unbelievably kind to pack essentially our entire condo in one night as they were passing through town. Just some last minute things to get together, and we'll sadly be out of our first home in a matter of days. Moving to Buckhead to ease the strain of commuting for both of us once the baby arrives. I think things will settle down a bit once we get unpacked and I have more time to study for boards (my licensing exam that I have to take 18 days after Anna is due!). Keep us in your prayers.
